Monolith seems close to the Colorado Spaceport – CBS Denver
WATKINS, Colorado (CBS4) – Colorado now has its own monolith! This happens just days after a mysterious monolith was found in a remote part of the Utah desert – and then disappeared.
There is no secret behind the Colorado monolith, however – Bill Zempel, chief mechanic at Mile High Aircraft Services in Watkins, says he built it.
The business is right at the air and space port, so Zempel says they told people that aliens were there on Thursday night. In reality, the monolith is made of plywood with a metal cover.
“Yes, I built it. As a joke and attention grabber, while the topic is fresh in people's minds, ”wrote Zempel on Twitter. "We're at the spaceport."
The Colorado Space Port is one of 11 locations licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration. The ultimate goal is to create a hub for commercial space exploration as well as research and development in the field. The focus of the spaceport will be on horizontal vehicles. Airplanes that take off and land like a traditional airplane, but can use rocket amplifiers to enter suborbital flight.

The Utah monolith was discovered in late November, and officials said there was "no obvious clue" as to who put it there. At the end of the month it was gone, even without an explanation.
We may not know if an alien or Earthling installed the "monolith" structure, but we can confirm that it was adopted by one or more unknown parties. More information: https://t.co/zmlHF4kPn9 #monolith #utahmonolith #utah pic.twitter.com/TiQMHK9cyM
